New Boundary Technologies Releases Prism Suite 12.0, Offering IT Administrators Superior, Customizable Control

Prism Suite 12.0 allows users to consistently hit deadlines, focus on business-critical initiatives and achieve greater results

Minneapolis, June 30, 2011New Boundary Technologies®, a 26-year pioneer in delivering innovative solutions, announces the release of Prism Suite® 12.0, with enhancements inspired by customer feedback and changing IT environments. The enhancements in this release build upon a powerful, three-part foundation: desktop configuration management, hardware and software asset management and patch management capabilities – enabling IT teams to work faster, smarter and with more control than ever.

New Boundary Technologies’ simple, automated and granular solutions give unprecedented insight and flexibility to IT Administrators. “Our customers tell us that their IT environments are more complex, diverse and distributed than before,” said Pam Erler, product manager at New Boundary Technologies. “They are dealing with the economic realities of company mergers and consolidations, and the adoption of flexible work locations and schedules. Administrators are looking for solutions that are as agile and adaptable as their enterprises.”

Prism Suite 12.0 increases IT administrators’ efficiency with several key enhancements.

Secured Groups: Hands Off These PCs!
Sometimes IT managers need to put certain groups of computers off-limits to all but their most experienced admins. Servers or executive computers might fall into that class. The Secured Groups feature means that a help desk user can’t accidentally deploy a workstation task to a server or reboot an executive computer in the middle of an important meeting.

Centralized, Automated Management of Assets: Lost in a sea of spreadsheets?
Instead of working between several spreadsheets at once, Prism Suite users have access to the data they need—about managed computers, software assets, hardware assets — in the same console. Hyperlinked user-defined fields allow even more consolidation of asset information. For example, link an entitlement document to a License Unit, or link a manufacturer’s replacement parts URL to a laptop computer.

After performing a network discovery scan, administrators can be overwhelmed with data, especially the first time a scan runs. Prism Suite 12.0 automatically groups scanned devices by category and manufacturer, and devices can be added to existing Organizational Groups. The new review check-off process assures that administrators always know which scanned items still need a review.

Customized Inventory Configuration: I like all the data, now I want to make it mine.
Prism Suite’s default inventory scan returns categorized hardware data about many aspects of managed PCs. Administrators sometimes want to fine-tune what is collected and how it is organized. For example, they may need to know memory speed in addition to the default memory data. Or they may want to create a whole new category of hardware information to be returned in the scan. Using WMI technology and customizable categories, all of that is possible, automatically.

Garry Saunders, owner of NetWorldUK and New Boundary Technologies’ UK Distributor, expects that the automatic organization of scanned assets, the ability to add hyperlinked asset properties and many other new features of 12.0 will dramatically cut the time required for hardware and software asset administration. “New Boundary Technologies listens to us and, more importantly, to our customers and prospects for their ideas about real-world enhancements – items that will ensure that Prism Suite is always at the cutting edge when it comes to features, functions and design,” Saunders said.
